Easter Egg Hunt

We finished our busy term with an Easter Egg Hunt with Room 18.

Our mission was to find numbered, coloured eggs which were hidden in the bark playground. We made an answer grid with the colours on it to help us collect our information.

Then we went hunting. We wrote the numbers in the answer grid by sorting them into the colour groups.

Week 9 - P Week and a special visitor.

Paper planes, Pikachu and The three Little Pigs were all things we learned about in P week.

We also followed a plan to make a penguin...

...and played with puppets and put on puppet shows.

Miss Sarah Cooper joined our class this week. She is a student teacher who will be working with us for 7 weeks. We are very lucky to have her, she has already learned all our names and enjoyed getting to know us. She will work with Mrs Ward to plan some exciting lessons.

Fingerprint Frogs

We have been learning about the letter F this week. We have also been talking about 'You have value'  from the E Tu Tangata programme. We know that everyone has different strengths and feelings. We found out that we all have different fingerprints as well.

So... we made fingerprint frogs with feelings. We made 2 frogs who are in the green zone and one frog from the other Zones of Regulation.

Can you tell how our frogs are feeling?

Insects

Did you know they all have 6 legs? Did you know spiders are not insects?

Here are some very interesting insects.... but they only have 2 legs!!

Our teddies are finished. We painted them with 2 water colour paints.

Alligators, Ants and an Albatross

Our alligators are swimming in the river.

We drew ants and ant nests with lots of tunnels underground.

Look at how big an albatross is.... it is so big that we had to draw it outside. We watched the live albatross cam and saw an albatross and it's baby in Dunedin. We made our albatross next to the map of New Zealand  so we could see where the albatross colony is - and where we are.

Our First Big Buddy meeting - via Zoom

We are not able to meet our big buddies in person just now so we met online.

Our big buddies from Room 4 and the other new entrants in Room 18  (and us) got together for the first time on Friday during developmental.

We set up a zoom meeting and we could pop by and talk to the other classes or share what we were doing. It was great fun.

This week we have learned about salmanders, how tall a sunflower can grow, and other things that start with s.
