Team Waka Challenge and Maths Week

 This term Team Waka is having a series of technology challenges.
After completing each fortnight's challenge, classes send representatives to team assembly to compete in the final challenge. Such a lot of fun. Room 16 was the winner this time but we had a lot of fun getting our paper planes built for the finale.

Watch us fold our planes and have a practice to find out how well they can fly.

You may see a few extras in our class for this activity. We were lucky to have some students from other classes help us today.
                                    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This week was maths week. The week of maths challenges finished with a Maths Trail. We raced around the school finding maths questions and solving them with our big buddies.
Rocket Science
 3, 2, 1 blast off.
We made rockets. We worked in teams of 3 and had different roles within our group. We  followed a design brief to complete our rocket. There was a lot of problem-solving rerquired to roll the card firmly for the rocket body and we had to attach the cone securely to make sure the air wouldn't escape and prevent the rocket from launching properly.
When the air was pushed quickly through the pipe (by stamping on an empty plastic bottle) the rocket was launched. Watch our rockets go!
Dance Magic
 We are enjoying being back at school and seeing our friends.
Team Waka got together for our Friday Jump Jam. Such fun exercising and dancing together.
Here is one of our favourites - watch for the student instructors for the 'Magic' routine.
Developmental - artists in action
On Friday we join all the Team Waka kids for developmental. In Room 14 this week we had paint and circles (just like the olympic circles) and had fun making our masterpieces. Watch us work alonside each other cooperatively.
Change
Our inquiry topic this term has been change.
We looked at a tree in our playground and showed its changes over the year. We divided our tree into four sections and painted the sections to show the changes over the seasons.
All about ladybirds
 We read fiction and non-fiction books about ladybirds. We found out lots of information about these amazing insects.
Look at us making our ladybugs for the wall display.
