Alligators, Ants and an Albatross

Our alligators are swimming in the river.

We drew ants and ant nests with lots of tunnels underground.

Look at how big an albatross is.... it is so big that we had to draw it outside. We watched the live albatross cam and saw an albatross and it's baby in Dunedin. We made our albatross next to the map of New Zealand  so we could see where the albatross colony is - and where we are.

Our First Big Buddy meeting - via Zoom

We are not able to meet our big buddies in person just now so we met online.

Our big buddies from Room 4 and the other new entrants in Room 18  (and us) got together for the first time on Friday during developmental.

We set up a zoom meeting and we could pop by and talk to the other classes or share what we were doing. It was great fun.

This week we have learned about salmanders, how tall a sunflower can grow, and other things that start with s.

Week 3 - C Week

As promised here are our monsters that we started last week (m week) ...

We folded our paper in half and drew the monster outine. We had fun painting them with sponges and forks and then cut out eyes and monster mouths. They are all different - just like us!

Caterpillars and Cats for C week

We made these caterpillars from circles. We orderd them into a pattern and added a head. The caterpillars were very hungry and you can see where they have nibbled the corners of the 'leaves'.

We have also been busy reading Pete the Cat and The Cat in the Hat stories. Look what we made!

We have been working hard at following instructions - look what happens when we get it right.

We had a really hot day on Tuesday, so we went outside and used syringes and containers to water the vege garden - just for fun!!

Week 2

This week we found out that we can use the data projector to help us work together.

We are finding all the pictures that start with the m sound - we have to be careful, there are some pictures that could trick us!

We have started making monsters. They needed more time to dry so here is a sneak preview, we will show you how they look when they are finished.

Mrs Levings showed us the carrots growing in the garden. Some of us helped harvest the carrots, wash them and then we ate them. Yum!

2022 - Same classroom, great new kids.

The beginning of the 2022 school year with 14 new tamariki. We will be getting new class members as they turn five and we have looking forward to them joining us for the exciting year ahead.
Ko wai au - Who am I?/Who we are! Ko wai ra? Our topic for Term 1. We are learning all about ourselves, how we feel and how to be great, kind classmates.
This week we have been listening to stories and talking about our different feelings. We know we all have lots of different kinds of feelings and that they are all OK. We are learning what we can do if our feelings worry us.

Look at us drawing what some of our feelings look like on our whiteboards. (We have our own whiteboard, pen and duster to look after. We keep them in a bag in our tote trays until we need them again.)

Here is a video of  us playing together.

We took some soft balls to the old hall on a wet day - such great fun when we can't get outside.
We are learning to work and share together in our classroom - See how busy we are.
