Swimming Carnival

Before we caught the bus we estimated how many seats that a bus has.

Jacob was the closest... the total passenger seats on the bus was 66.
                            ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We had an awesome morning at the swimming carnival. Watch us catch the bus, race across the pool with cups of water, have a flutter board race and make a huge whirlpool with Mr Lewis!

Thanks to the sports captains and the parents who helped us in the pool.

Some photos from Charlie's mum who help us get changed today. Many thanks.

Room 5 Big Buddies

Our big buddies look after us each day at whānau time.
Sometimes they come and have lunch with us and sometimes we get together to make things, read things, share what we have been learning and just to play with each other for fun.

This week they came to get to know us a bit better and find out what we have in common. They are learning about venn diagrams so they made diagrams all about our differences and similarities. We even had time for a story or two.

One Apple up on Top

This week we read a story about some animals balancing apples on their heads.

We got an apple from the school apple tree and gave it a go... and were surprisingly good at balancing.

(Those observant viewers will notice the wrong date on the board. We hadn't updated the date from the previous week as we have had several activities that started at 9 am, so we missed our usual start of day routine. In fact, this was Monday 22 Feb.)

Friends and fire trucks

We coloured a fire truck picture and then made it come alive with a special app on the iPad. Watch us drive our trucks, lift the ladder and squirt water.

We have been learning to make new friends and share the classroom equipment. We are very good at taking turns.

Friday Fun Fitness

Every Friday Team Waka get together for lots of fun. Mrs Randall and two big kids teach us some cool Jump Jam dances and we all get fit and have fun. We are learning some new dances this year. Such a fun way to end the week!

Our monsters are awesome - and look quite friendly! They are all different - just like us!

This is Milo the Monkey. He is the lead character in our new reading programme.

Our big buddies from Room 5 join us everyday at Whānau Time. On Friday they joined us for lunch as well. It was great to eat and talk and get to know each other a bit more.

Mrs Muschamp introduced us to the violin teacher. We listened to some fun and spooky music and even sung along to baby shark played on the violin. Some children from Team Waka are going to learn to play the  violin this year.

Great fun and lots of learning in week one!

Look at how well we can work together to make posters for our block box.

Practice, Practice, Practice

We are learning how to write numerals - we have to make sure we can write them the right way around!

Week 1 lunch fun....
Do you know what happens at lunchtime when we are outside playing with our friends? This video was taken on Friday. We had music, dancing, playing and some of us helped Mrs Levings in the garden.
We dug up lots of yummy carrots.

Our first day

Room 14 2021 is underway. We had a wonderful day - look at this video of some of the things we did.
