Jump Jam

Every Friday morning Team Waka gets together for fun and fitness. We are learning the moves to 'Hippy From Mississippi' one of the Jump Jam exercise dances.

It takes a lot of concentration and coordination to get all the moves in time to the music, but it is great fun and we are being active and healthy at the same time!

Big Buddies, Beebots and Bubbles

 This is 'b' week.

Buddies.

We met our big buddies from Room 1. They walked with us to Crosbie Park for cross country practice. We are looking forward to working with them on all sorts of activties over the year.

Here we are sitting with our big buddies...

Beebots

We have been waiting to have a turn with the beebots. Last term we practiced drawing arrows so that we can write commands to programme the beebots to move. We also learned the vocabulary we would need, forwards, backwards, left turn and right turn. We turned ourselves into 'kidbots' to practise following these commands so we would know what to do when we programmed the beebots. We were all ready to go.

We had such fun!

Bubbles

Have you seen raisins float and dive? We predicted that raisons would sink when we placed them in a container of fizzy water... and they did. But, as we watched we found out that bubbles stick to the raisins which makes them rise to the top. When the bubbles pop the raisins go down again.

Just like magic

 This week was N week.

We learned about a very strange animal called a numbat. It lives in Australia. It has stripes like a tiger, a tail like a fox and a very long tongue.

We watched a video about how birds build nests. It takes a long time to build a nest so the video was sped up so we could see all the nest being built.

Here is a different sped up video for you to watch ... you will see the tidying up 'magic' that happens in our class. At the beginning there is a big mess, but after the wonderful tidiers from Room 14 get into action, the room is all tidy again.
