Ladybugs

We found out that ladybugs and ladybirds are the same. We learned lots of facts and made 3D ladybug pictures.

Look at how we made our ladybird pictures.

Fantastic Writers

We are becoming very independent writers. We are focussing on trying to write interesting, new words by ourselves. We say the word slowly, listening to the sounds and try to write all the sounds we can hear.

Swimming Carnival and Tractors on parade

What a fantastic day Tuesday was. First we caught the bus to the swimming carnival and when we got back to school some tractors had arrived for us to climb and explore.

The tractors were at school to advertise Gumboot Day on 3 April. Some of the drivers talked to us about feelings and how we can learn to help ourselves if our feelings are making us sad or anxious.

G is for Guinea pig and Gorilla

We read a book called Guinea Pig Grass.
Mrs Bond brought a guinea pig to school. We had turns feeding it grass. Guinea pigs eat very fast!

We saw a video of a family of mountain Gorillas. We found out that:

  • they make a grunting sound to let other gorillas know when they are visiting
  • gorillas are very big but they are gentle with their family
  • they eat bamboo and mountain celery
  • the big, male gorilla is a silverback
  • the young gorillas play and wrestle just like we do
  • humans have to be careful not to spread diseases to the gorillas
Zain is telling some facts about gorillas for his seesaw.
